Louisiana Legislature

HB 1368 - allows the state to suspend some education laws and rules to improve student achievement. (Act 749)

HB 1474 - removes the requirement—present in the federal health care reform act—to force individuals to buy or maintain health insurance coverage. (Act 952)

SB 407 - removed discretionary authorization of the Dept. of Public Safety to charge a record check fee. Provides that record cheak fees paid by applicants on or after 3/8/10 be refunded. (Act 319)

HB 1165 - Establishes a special prestige license plate honoring the 2009 World Champion New Orleans Saints. (Act 941)

HB1 - The General Appropriation Bill (GAB) totals $26.9 billion, of which $7.1 billion is State General Fund (Direct), and $11.5 billion is Federal Funds. SGF decreased $515 million and Federal Funds decreased $3.6 billion when compared to the FY 09-10 Existing Operating Budget as of 12/1/09. Overall, FY 10-11 Total GAB funding is $2.6 billion less than FY 09-10. (Act 11)

HB 244 - extends the age that a dependent child will be covered by a parent or grandparent’s family group health or accident insurance to until the age of 26. (Act 912)

SB 595 - prohibits an insurer from canceling or failing to renew a homeowners’ insurance policy, regardless of whether the policy has been in effect for less than 3 years, when such action is based on the presence of Chinese drywall . (Act 1005)
