Senator Jack Donahue was honored by the Republican Legislative Delegation with the John J. Hainkel Leadership Award for 2010. The award is given annually for leadership during the Regular Session of the Legislature.

The award, which is presented for outstanding leadership during the 2010 legislative session, is named after former Louisiana State Representative and State Senator, the late John J. Hainkel. Hainkel was the only state legislator in the history of the United States to serve in the respective capacities as Speaker of the State House of Representatives and President of the State Senate.
